Red Men Announce 2017 Season Schedule

Carthage College Men’s soccer has officially announced the 2017 schedule, which continues the program’s tradition of scheduling the toughest competition in Division III soccer. The 2017 season will feature matches against three teams that competed in the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament alongside Carthage. Two of these teams were also included in the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Final Top 25 Poll for Division III men’s soccer.
The 2017 slate features 20 games total with 10 at home and 10 away. Six of the 10 matches for each home and away are designated as non-conference games. The Red Men will face off against the Celts of the University of St. Thomas as their season opener in Houston, Tex.
The Red Men will return to the lakefront and have their home opener on the newly renovated Art Keller Field on Tuesday, Sept. 5th against Kalamazoo College.
Following their home opener, Carthage will host the annual Battle on the Border with St. Norbert College, Hope College, and the University of Chicago in attendance. The Red Men will face off against the later two teams on Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9 respectively.
Lake Forest College (Sept. 13th), Loras College (Sept. 17), University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (Sept. 20), and Silver Lakes College (Oct. 7), have also returned to the Red Men schedule for the 2017 season. The contests against Lake Forest and Loras are included in Carthage’s away matches in 2017. The Red Men will host the matches against the Warhawks and the Lakers on Art Keller Field.
New additions to the 2017 season include Emory University (Sept. 23), Berry College (Sept. 24), St. Norbert College (Sept. 27), and St. Olaf College (Oct. 22). The Red Men will be travel to Emory, Berry, and St. Norbert while hosting St. Olaf.
Of the teams on the Red Men’s slate, The University of Chicago, UW-Whitewater, Lake Forest, Loras, St. Norbert, and Emory were ranked regionally or nationally throughout the 2016 season.
The Red Men will open the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin slate with North Central College on Saturday, September 30 as part of Homecoming Weekend. The Red Men will have three other conference matches at home, and host Senior Night against CCIW rival Augustana College on Saturday, October 30. The Red Men will have four CCIW away matches during the season.
Eight of the nine CCIW teams were ranked regionally and nationally throughout the 2016 season.
