Red Men Return on the Road for Lake Forest

#18 Carthage College Men's Soccer team (3-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) returns on the road for a match against Lake Forest College. Kickoff for the match will begin at 4:30 pm at Farwell Field in Lake Forest, Ill.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Red Men split the Battle on the Border Invitational with a 2-1 win versus Hope College and a 1-3 loss versus the University of Chicago.
- Junior Kevin Mahoney and Sophomore Freddy Martinez lead the scoring effort with one goal each during the Invitational.
- Goalkeepers Niko Mavrogiannis and Brayan Arce Justiniano split time in the net earning a total of five saves.
SCOUTING THE FORESTERS
- The Foresters are 2-2 on the season with losses to Hope College and Calvin College and two wins over Trinity International University and Concordia University - Wisconsin.
- John Cappuccitti, Seton Trostle, and Gaston Aubert have led the scoring effort for the Foresters with one goal a piece.
- Gaolkeeper Tero Elias has earned two shutouts for the Foresters in the wins over Trinity and Concordia.
- The Foresters trail Carthage, as the Red Men lead an 8-6-1 all time in the series between two teams.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Justiniano's 63 saves is three shy of taking the 6th spot on the Carthage Career Saves List.
- Senior Jamie Tausend took sole possession of the 6th spot on the Career Assists List (14), and is two shy of climbing to 5th.
- Tausend is also 12 starts shy of taking the top spot for Most Career Starts, which is currently held by Max Zbilut, '06 (74).
- Senior Johnny Rimkus's 18 goals is one shy of taking the sole 8th spot on the Career Goals List.
THINGS TO KNOW
- Head coach Steve Domin is in his 22nd season as Carthage men’s soccer head coach. Domin holds a overall 221-160-35 record in his tenure as head coach.
- Carthage moved to the 18th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III Men's Soccer Varsity Poll.
- The Red Men were voted third in the United Soccer Coaches first Central Region Poll of the 2017 season.
- Tausend was named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the matches against Kalamazoo College, Hope College, and the University of Chicago.
- The 2017 team captains are seniors Tausend and Rimkus, and juniors Kevin Mahoney and Adrian Herrera.
- In addition to Rimkus and Tausend, the 2017 season features a senior class of Erik Boese, Joey Klawitter, and Sahr Mahoney.
