Red Men Held to a Draw at Lake Forest

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

- The Red Men led the offensive in statistics with 20 shots, ten of which were on goal.

- Senior Johnny Rimkus scored a goal in the 55th minute of play.

- Junior Niko Mavrogiannis made six saves on eight shots faced at goalkeeper.



Despite 20 shots, with 10 shots on goal, the #18 Carthage College Men's Soccer Team (3-1-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) tied with the Lake Forest College Foresters 1-1 after 110 minutes of play.


The Red Men were locked in another back and forth affair in the first half, with six shots made by the Red Men going wide, or saved by Lake Forest goalkeeper Tero Elias.


Rimkus would score the first goal in the match for the Red Men, off of an assist from Freddy Martinez. Rimkus's goal solidified his spot at eighth on the Red Men Career Goals List with a total of 19 goals in his career.


Mavrogiannis earned the tie at goalkeeper, collecting a season high of six saves on eight shots faced. However, in the final seconds of regulation, John Cappuccitti would score for the Foresters.


The Red Men face off against the Foresters in two ten minute overtime periods, with three more shot attempts by Rimkus, and two saves from Mavrogiannis. With neither team scoring, the Red Men concluded the match with a draw.


The Red Men will remain on the road for their next match against #19 Loras College. The match is another testament to the competitive schedule that Carthage organizes year after year. The match is scheduled for kick off on Sunday, Sept. 17th at 2 PM.
