Red Men Set Their Sights on Atlanta

The Carthage College Red Men Soccer Team (4-2-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) will venture to the Peach State for a weekend against two strong teams in Emory University (5-2) and Berry College (3-2).
LAST TIME OUT
- The Red Men emerged victorious on Art Keller Field against the Warhawks of the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater Wednesday night in a 3-0 shut out.
- The shut out was the first for the Red Men in 2017, with all three goals career firsts for Luke Schoffstall, Kevin Penarrieta, and Danny Eloyza.
- Goalkeeper Brayan Arce Justiniano earned three saves in the match.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- The Eagles of Emory University come into the match with a 1-0 win over Maryville College (Tenn.).
- Jason McCartney leads Emory in goals scored with four in 2017. McCartney also leads the team in Shots on Goal with 10, and Points with eight.
- Goalkeeper Cole Gallagher has recorded a 4-2 record on the season with nine saves, one goal against, and a 0.25 Goals Against Average in 2017.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
- The Vikings of Berry College will face off against against conference rival Sewanee: The University of the South before hosting the Red Men on Sunday.
- Henry Arato, Steven Moore, Daniel Steinwachs, and Jake Williamson all pace the Vikings with one goal each as of Sept., 21st, 2017.
- Goalkeeper Carson Oakes leads the Vikings with 11 saves, three goals against, and two shut outs in 2017. Oakes also leads all goalies with a .786 save percentage (as of Sept., 21st).
MILESTONE WATCH
- Justiniano is now 12 saves shy of moving to the fifth spot on the Career Saves List, a spot currently held by Nick Huftalin, '15 with 81 saves.
- Senior Jamie Tausend's 15 assists is one shy of taking the sole fifth spot on the Carthage Career Assists List.
- Tausend is also nine starts shy of taking the top spot on the Career Starts List, currently held by Max Zbilut, '07 (74 starts).

- Head coach Steve Domin is in his 22nd season as Carthage men’s soccer head coach. Domin holds a overall 240-164-37 record in his tenure as head coach.
- Carthage Recieved Votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III Men's Soccer Varsity Poll.
- The Red Men were voted Fifth in the United Soccer Coaches Central Region Poll.
- The 2017 team captains are seniors Tausend and Johnny Rimkus, and juniors Mahoney and Adrian Herrera.
- In addition to Rimkus and Tausend, the 2017 season features a senior class of Erik Boese, Joey Klawitter, and Sahr Mahoney.
