Red Men Fall to Eagles in Atlanta Opener

The Carthage College Men's Soccer Team (4-3-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) fell to the Emory University Eagles (6-2) by a 3-0 score in the first of two matches of the weekend.
Emory took control of the scoring as Moustaffa Khattab scored in the ninth minute of the match as the ball landed in the far right corner after a turnover for the Eagles. Adam Fergusson scored in the 13th minute after a quick pass by teammate Jason McCartney. McCartney would notch a goal of his own in the 29th minute with a lob goal.
Goalkeeper Brayan Arce Justiniano earned the start at the net, recording five saves and three goals against. Carthage also held the statistical advantage in corner goals with seven to two. AJ Abara and Kevin Penarrieta were the only two Red Men to record shots on goal during the match. Emory lead in all other statistical categories throughout the match.
Carthage will face off against the Berry College Vikings on Sunday. Live stats and video will available for fans.
