Red Men Host Cardinals on Saturday for Homecoming

On Saturday, Sept., 30th, the Carthage College Red Men (5-4-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) begin their campaign to defend their CCIW title with an opening match against North Central College (3-5-1, 0-0 CCIW). The match will conclude the Saturday festivities on Homecoming Weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Red Men fell to St. Norbert College on Wednesday with a 1-0 decision in overtime.
- Jeff Montemayor recorded four shots on goal during the match.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
- North Central College Recieved Votes in the latest Central Region Varsity Poll.
- The Cardinals of North Central enter Saturday's match with a two game losing streak. Their last meeting was a 2-1 overtime decision against Central College.
- Goalkeeper Connor O'Neill has been the Cardinal's go-to in between the pipes
- Ryan O'Deen has lead the Cardinals in goals scored with four. O'Deen also leads North Central in the assists category.
- Gavin Sanchez leads the offensive effort in shots with 23 on the season.

- The Red Men lead the all-time conference series against the Cardinals with a 20-6-2 record.
- Carthage has won the last three meetings against North Central in 2015 and 2016.

- Head coach Steve Domin is in his 22nd season as Carthage men’s soccer head coach. Domin holds a overall 240-165-37 record in his tenure as head coach.
- The Red Men were voted Sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Central Region Poll.
- The 2017 team captains are seniors Tausend and Johnny Rimkus, and juniors Mahoney and Adrian Herrera.
- In addition to Rimkus and Tausend, the 2017 season features a senior class of Erik Boese, Joey Klawitter, and Sahr Mahoney.
