Red Men to Drive to Decatur for Next CCIW Match

The Carthage College Red Men (7-5-2, 1-1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) will venture towards Decatur for their next conference matchup against Millikin University (3-8-1, 0-3 CCIW). The match will be a double header with the Carthage women's soccer team playing at 3:30 PM, and the men playing at 6 PM.


LAST TIME OUT

- The Red Men challenged the Vikings of #12 North Park University, ending in a 2-2 draw following two overtime periods.

- Adrian Herrera and Jerry Patino scored Carthage's two goals in the match.

- Niko Mavrogiannis earned two saves at goalkeeper.


SCOUTING THE BIG BLUE

- Millikin University sits at a 3-8-1 record, and will be entering the match following a 2-4 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

- Ivan Lopez leads the Big Blue in goals with three and points with six.

- Michael Longo leads the Big Blue with two assists on the season.

Try Knighton leads the team in Shots and Shots on Goal with 28 and nine respectively.

- Trevor Creek leads the team in saves with 41 on the season.


SERIES HISTORY

- Carthage leads the series against the Big Blue with a 15-4-3 record.

- The last meeting between the two teams was at Art Keller Field in 2016, in which the Red Men edged the Big Blue 4-3.

- In Decatur, Carthage holds a 8-2-2 all-time record in the series against Millikin.

- Senior Jamie Tausend is two starts shy of tying for most Career Starts by a Red Men, and three more to take the sole spot.

- Tausend is also one assist shy of taking the sole fifth spot on the Career Assists List.

- Brayan Arce Justiniano is one save of shy of tying for fifth on the Career Saves List and two away from reaching the Top Five.

- Mavrogiannis's 61 saves is five shy of taking the seventh spot on the Red Men Career Saves List.

- Head coach Steve Domin is in his 22nd season as Carthage men’s soccer head coach. Domin holds a overall 242-168-38 record in his tenure as head coach.

- The Red Men were voted Eighth in the United Soccer Coaches Central Region Poll.

- The 2017 team captains are seniors Tausend and Johnny Rimkus, and juniors Kevin Mahoney and Adrian Herrera.

- In addition to Rimkus and Tausend, the 2017 season features a senior class of Joey Klawitter, and Sahr Mahoney.
