Four Red Men Named First Team All-CCIW

On Fri., Nov. 10 the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced the Men's Soccer All-Conference Lists. Four Red Men were honored: Ivan Esquivel, Jerry Patino, and captains Adrian Herrera and Jamie Tausend.
The award is a first for Esquivel, a sophomore forward/midfielder, who started in all 10 of the Red Men's CCIW matches scoring one goal, three assists, and four points during conference action. Esquivel also recorded 11 shots on goal during CCIW action.
The award is also a first for forward/midfielder Patino, who transferred to Carthage from Kennedy King College as a junior. Patino started in eight CCIW matches on the season notching four goals on 12 shots on goal and eight points.
This is the second time Herrera was named First Team by the CCIW, receiving the same honors in 2016. Herrera started in all 10 CCIW matches scoring four goals and notching two assists during conference play.
This is the second CCIW honor for Tausend, following Second Team All-CCIW recognition in 2016. It is Tausend's first honor on the First Team All-CCIW. Tausend started in all 10 CCIW matches, splitting time between left back and center back, scoring one goal and two assists.
The Red Men finished the 2017 season with a 13-7-2 record and 5-2-1 in the CCIW. The Red Men will graduate five seniors in Daniel Axtman, Joey Klawitter, Sahr Mahoney, and captains Johnny Rimkus and Jamie Tausend.
